Public Preferences for the Deployment of CCS in Canada
Abstract
CCS is central to any CC mitigation scenario. Its success does not only rely on political commitment, but also on the response from the public. With ample research evidence on the technological and economic performance of CCS in place, understanding where members of the (Canadian) public stand of carbon storage using CCS remains a large open question. Using data from large-scale surveys and economic experiments this study sheds light on where Canadians stand on CCS.
Bio
Sven Anders is Professor of Resource Economics in the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology at the University of Alberta. Using experimental economic methods and econometric techniques Sven’s research seeks to provide insights into both citizen and firm behaviour with a focus on policy and welfare outcomes. Among other interests Sven's research focuses on topics in energy transition at the interface of technology innovation, risk-benefit trade-offs, and public preferences for energy supply.
